Singing and Percussion of Argentine Folklore: Chacarera and Vidala.

Singing and percussion of folklore of northwestern Argentina: Chacarera and Vidala. In this workshop we will approach the chacarera and vidala through singing and playing percussion. We will learn to recognize and play the rhythmic patterns or "claves" of each rhythm through the listening of examples, body percussion and bass drum exercises. We will then develop what we have learned by singing a selection of songs in an ensemble of voices and percussion.

Bring your bass drum or any other percussion instrument. Let the organizers know if you don't have an instrument so we can organize one for you. Participation without instrument is possible as well.
